Do I have to paste my API key into Codex?

No. The MCP server uses OAuth: you sign in in the browser and that is it.

Can it publish something without me seeing it?

Only if you want it to. With approval mode, every action waits for a person to approve it.

Can I try it without publishing anything real?

Yes, connect the sandbox and your agent works with simulated accounts.

How much does it cost?
